Events Like the nation and the world, I feel split down the middle by the war. Saddam has done dreadful things to his own people and Iranians but I wanted the inspectors to continue their work.

However, as a military spokesman said, "we are where we are" and one can have nothing but sympathy for our forces and the Iraqi civilians caught up in the maelstrom.

I wanted to do something to bring healing and gained the tacit support of the Town Council for a concert on the Moor with the proceeds to be divided between Services family welfare locally and Iraqi civilian aid.

I had intended to organise it quickly but, sadly, it looks as if the war will not be short. Therefore, I am inviting performers, poets and artists to drop in to thw WI (behind Tesco) next Monday (7th) between four and eight pm. I shall also be there this Friday between one and sevenish for another purpose but can still talk. Refreshments will be provided on either occasion.

Videographers would be most welcome, too, as it will be a showcase for local talent and we may sell recordings for the same good causes.

Anyone who can't make it but wants to help can e-mail me on, where updates will appear, or call me on 313666 but never mornings please.

PS Soundies, DJs, choirs, sketches etc welcome.

Monday, April 1, 2003 10am no fooling! TiGeR
