Events The Lyin' Politician Blues (Festival of Music, Art & Social Conscience) is to take place between 22nd - 25th May, would love to involve you if you are interested...

We will be running concerts, poetry, exhibitions etc; as well as debt advice, and food share (all venues will be accepting donations of non-perishable food), but I believe the music, poetry and art will have the greatest public impact and get the public to take more notice. Folk, jazz, blues music and poetry have many relevant pieces that would fit into the project 'Songs, Poems & Tunes of Social Conscience', 'Working Class Songs, Poems & Tunes' (this could include shanties & shouts), 'Poetry of Concience & Awareness' we have organised an exhibition of satirical political art and have invited other artists to present work on the theme of social conscience. You probably have some ideas/input of your own which would be much appreciated.

We have various venues including a big day at the Fish Factory Arts Space, North Parade, Falmouth (not far from Lydl). If you operate sessions on those dates (the dates chosen are the European elections) and feel you can convert any of your events to the cause (using one of the above titles - or similar) , its also a good possibility, but we do have a group of artists willing to travel. It would be a target that entrance fee or donations should be 'non perishable food' (rice-pasta-oil-tinned/dryed food etc;). The venues would be a collection point for ourselves and participating 'Food Banks', ready for quick distribution to those in need.

If as an artist or volunteer you do decide you want to be a part of it (we do understand some of the political restraints if you decline), and you know of any folk/blues sessions down your way, that may be willing to adapt their sessions for our festival (inspired from the ideas above), you can pass on my contact to them, we will make a poster specifically for them and include them in the main programme. There is more info about ourselves on the link below.
