Events Chart ‘Monsters’ (ahem) The Automatic are set to headline Falmouth’s Princess Pavilion on Friday 5th March as part of a mammoth 26 date UK tour and support on the night will come from Straight Lines and one of Cornwall’s hottest new bands, The Black Tambourines...

Welsh hot shots Straight Lines are the perfect blend of punk, pop and rock that actually brings to mind the sound of headliners The Automatic. Originally conceived in late 2009 by lead vocalist and guitarist Tom and drummer Dane we can fast forward a few months and the band are ready to release the first fruits of their labour; ‘Versus The Allegiance’.

The hard-hitting single is the first to be lifted from the band's flawless debut album ‘Persistence In This Game’ which will be released through Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, The Xcerts, Reuben) in early 2010. 'Versus The Allegiance' can now be purchased from iTunes.

Opening the show will be a band that before long ‘should’ be headlining shows in their own right, The Black Tambourines.

The Black Tambourines are a 4 piece band who formed in late 2009 after meeting at Truro College. Their music is an explosive mix of punk attitude, pop songwriting and blistering rock'n'roll songs and have caused much excitement. Their influences include Iggy & the Stooges, The Velvet Underground, Phil Spector, the Beach Boys, the Jesus and Mary Chain and Joy Division, and many more comparisons have been drawn. After gigging for only 3 months, they have already built a worthy fan base and attracted much attention from the local industry. Their gigs are a burst of pure, energetic garage rock that often concludes in a climatic, noisy finish.

This will be a great gig with The Automatic showcasing material from their new album ‘Tear the Signs Down’ as well showing their ability to pen the perfect pop song when they rip through such as smash hits ‘Raoul’, ‘Steve McQueen’, ‘Recover’ and the giant “what’s that coming over the hill is it a monster? Is it a monster?” chart smash ‘Monster’ which still receives a mass of radio plays.

Tickets are £9.00 and available from or from the Princess Pavilion box office on 01326 211222 or from the Hall For Cornwall box office 01872 262466.
