Local News One of the most exciting piano players in Europe will be appearing at Hall for Cornwall on 21st February...

It’s six years since the boogiemeister’s Ben Waters Band last album which was received enthusiastically by none other than the great Jools Holland who declared it one of his best boogie woogie albums of all time.

Ben and his band have not betrayed their musical roots, which lie at the base of their new compositions but have definitely explored new and sometimes controversial territory with “Hurricane”.

The band are proud that Shakin’ Stevens, the UK’s biggest selling rock ‘n roll artist, agreed to guest on “Hurricane” and especially to record “The Boy who Bought the Sun” on their single of the same name.

Ben Waters and Richard Hymas are composing music for today with an originality and passion comparable with that of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Waters’ sometimes turbulent piano work has been tempered with the gentler nature of Hymas’s composition – the reverse being true in that Hymas’s lyrical input is brought up-tempo with Ben Waters’ enthusiasm. However you describe it, this union works.

Ben’s live shows have been compared to those of Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Jimi Hendrix – so if you love your authentic Rock-n-Roll and boogie based power driven music this is the one to go for.

The show starts at 8pm and tickets are £14.50, with concessions at £12. A 75p Theatre Fund payment is added to each ticket sold. Book now by calling 01872 262 466 or book online on www.hallforcornwall.co.uk
