Music at the Star & Garter Last week the Star & Garter house band were gigging elsewhere so Monty Ray, whose turn it was to front them, brought his own band and very good they were too.

Monty has seldom been in such good lip on trumpet and flugelhorn and there were excellent solos from Trevor Gregory on guitar and Dave Freeman on bass whilst Jack Wright drummed the whole thing along nicely. In keeping with their name, JAZZ COCKTAIL, they played some nice fruity numbers such as Canteloupe Island and Watermelon Man, passing through Monk and Hancock as far as Billy Joel, timewise that is.

The S&G crowd took to them well and, if you have a wedding or barmitvah coming up, Monty can be contacted on 01209 714859. Trombonist, Del Hickford, is usually part of the line-up too.
